Linea 700 consists of Lime-based plasters, paints and Stucco Antico finishes for the decoration and restoration of interior and exterior facades.

Linea 700 contains lime putty, Italian marble powder, rheologic modifiers, reinforced acrylics, generally recognized in the Restoration practice, and is coloured with natural earth pigments or low-V.O.C.(Volatile Organic Compounds) universal tints.

Linea 700 produces transparent and vibrant textures, typical of the past.

Part 1 General

1.01 Summary

This document is intended to be used in preparing specifications for projects utilizing Linea 700 Lime-based paints and plasters. For complete product description and usage refer to:

Coordinate related sections to assure satisfactory preparation of substrates.

Plaster Brown Coat: Apply brown coat in accordance with ASTM C926 - Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster and Portland Cement Association's Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco) Manual. Pay particular attention to moist curing requirements to minimize shrinkage cracking; cure at least seven days (21 days recommended) prior to application of finish coating. For additional resistance to cracking, a fiber mesh can be imbedded into brown coat.

EIFS Base Coat: Comply with exterior insulation and finish system manufacturer's instructions.

Gypsum Drywall (Interiors Only): Drywall shall be taped and then sanded or floated Provide Level Four or better surface in accordance with Gypsum Association's GA-214 - Recommended Levels of Gypsum Board Finish to assure that substrate defects are not visible through plaster.

Specify expansion and control joints, corner beads, flashings and required trim. Require corrosion resistant trim and fasteners in exterior and wet areas.

Linea 700 stucco finishes can also be used over existing surfaces, concrete, masonry, wood, and other substrates. Contact Firenze Enterprises for substrate preparation recommendations.

1.02 Related Sections

1.03 Submittals

  1. Product Data: Submit (two)________ copies of manufacturer's product data for finishes, and other materials provided under this Section.
  2. Verification Samples: Submit (two)________ sets of samples (ten by ten) _________ inches in size illustrating range of color(s) and texture(s) to be expected in completed work.
  3. Shop Drawings: Indicate designs, colors, locations, and relationship to adjoining surfaces.
  4. Qualification Data: Certificate issued by distributor indicating that installer has attended training classes and is authorized to install specified product.

Quality Assurance

  1. Manufacturer: Shall be © Forli, Italy or its authorized distributor.
  2. Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing work of this Section:
    1. Minimum of three years documented experience in the installation of projects of similar scope.
    2. Shall have qualified and properly trained people to perform work.
    3. Shall be licensed, bonded and insured.
  3. Mock-up:
    1. Prior to installation of work of this Section, apply sample (of each specified finish) approximately (four by four) ___________ feet in size at location directed by Architect __________.
    2. Based on approved sample, use specified materials and techniques to illustrate range of color(s), texture(s), and workmanship to be expected in completed work.
    3. Retain approved mock-up until work has been completed and accepted. Accepted mock-up may be incorporated into final work.
  4. Pre-installation Conference:
    1. Convene meeting at project site within one week of scheduled start of application with representatives of the following in attendance: Owner, Architect, General Contractor and Sub-Contractor.
    2. Review substrate conditions, approved samples and colors, requirement of related work, application procedures, and protection measures.
    3. Keep minutes of meeting including responsibilities of various parties and deviations from specifications and application instructions. Distribute minutes to attendees within 72 hours of meeting.

1.05 Delivery, Storage and Handling

  1. Deliver materials to the construction site in their original packaging with manufacturer's labels identifying manufacturer and product; color designation; lot number; and date of manufacture.
  2. Inspect materials upon delivery and immediately report to Architect and Manufacturers representative damaged or defective materials.
  3. Store materials in well ventilated, dry and protected area and where minimum storage temperature is no less than 5 °C (42 °F) and not more than 35 °C (95 °F).

1.06 Warranty

  1. Manufacturer's Limited Warranty: and/or Firenze Enterprises Inc. as manufacturer's representative shall provide a five-year limited warranty against defective material upon written request. ® shall make no other warranties, expressed or implied. and/or Firenze Enterprises Inc. do not warranty workmanship.

1.07 Project Conditions

  1. Do not apply with rainy weather or with air or substrate temperature below 5 °C (42 °F). Protect the facades from rain, at least for the first 48 hours, until lime has finished setting and has begun the process of carbonation.

2.01 Plaster

  3. Substitutions: None permitted.
  4. Composition: White, premixed paste containing well seasoned hydrated lime putty, fine marble powder, linseed oil, rheological modifiers (which guarantee a perfect workability of the product) and reinforced acrylics.

2.02 Coloring

  1. Colorants: High-quality, fade-resistant, Low V.O.C. universal colorants.
  2. Color: Match ___________________________________________.
  3. Color(s): Provide (one) or/and up to _______ color(s) to be selected by Architect____________.

2.03 Mixing

  1. Mix materials to assure colorants are uniformly dispersed. If necessary, dilute with small amount of clean, potable water. Mix with clean tools and protect against entry of dust and debris into container.

2.04 Accessories

  1. Primer for interior applications: Novaprimer, a water-based primer formulated with acrylic unsaponifiable copolymers which will react to direct contact with the high alkalinity of new lime plaster.
  2. Primer for exterior applications: Isosil and Isosil color are water-based primer/sealers formulated with special unsaponifiable siloxane resins.

2.05 Tools

  1. Use stainless steel trowels (INOX) of types recommended by manufacturer to produce intended results.

Part 3 Execution

3.01 Examination

  1. Verify the suitability of existing conditions before starting work. Do not begin work on these sections until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
  2. Inspect substrates and conditions affecting work of Section. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
  3. Acceptable substrate tolerances ± 0.05 inches in 2 feet and ± 0.15 inches in 6 feet.
  4. The surfaces to receive plaster are free of dust, loose particles, oil and other conditions that could affect the adhesion or installation of plasters.

3.02 Preparation

  1. Comply with manufacturer’s written instructions for substrate preparation.
  2. The Line 700 plasters shall be protected by permanent or temporary means from weather and other damage prior to, during and following application, until dry.
  3. Protect adjacent surfaces and items that are not to receive plaster finish.

3.03 Application

  1. Prime Coat: Where recommended by manufacturer, apply prime coat. Allow to dry.
  2. Keycoat: Where recommended by the manufacturer, mix and apply Keycoat in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Allow to dry.
  3. Finish: Apply finish coats as recommended by manufacturer to achieve desired results. Number of coats and total dry mil thickness shall be as recommended by manufacturer for the specific finish.

3.04 Sealing

  1. Allow 48 hours for plaster substrate to dry before applying sealer.
  2. Sealers: Apply protective treatment over mineral plasters or where recommended by Manufacturer, using the type of sealer recommended. In most cases it will be a Siloxane based sealer
  3. Apply two coats. Allow first coat to dry before applying second coat. Promptly after application of coat, wipe surface to remove excess sealer

3.05 Cleaning

  1. Remove masking.
  2. Adjacent Surfaces: Remove plaster splatters using methods which will not damage surfaces.

3.06 Protection

  1. Protect from rain for 48 hours after application.
  2. Protect finishes as required to assure that they will be without damage at substantial completion.
  3. Repair damage in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and to satisfaction of Architect.
