Decorative lime-based "Stucco Antico" with red "cocciopesto" crushed brickworks
CORALLO is a limebased, semi-glossy "Stucco Antico" finishing coat formulated in the whole respect of traditional and historical "recipes" and therefore containing well seasoned hydrated lime putty, fine marble powder, linseed oil and rheologic modifiers, which guarantee a perfect workability of the product. The formulation of CORALLO has been enriched with red cocciopesto crushed clay stones, for soft and yet vibrant shades.
The wet product has a high workability: painters or decorators, by using his own ability, experience and manual skills may easily reproduce the famous "Stucco Mantovano or Encausto" and all sorts of marbling effects.
The high alkalinity degree typical of lime and a good permeability rate make of CORALLO a perfect natural antimould agent.
Texture
Semi-glossy or velvet-satin, depending on the technique used to work the product.
Uses
Decorative finishing coat of extremely prestigious interior or exterior walls.
Natural lime plasters represent CORALLO's most suitable substrate, since the product reacts chemically with them, building up a unique "body" able to preserve this lime coating for a longer period of time.
Following the correct instructions about surface preparation CORALLO may also be applied over:
- Lime and Cement Mortars
- Premixed renderings
- Pre-existing lime and gypsum plasters
- Moisture-permeable plasters
- Gypsum plasterboard
Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be perfectly dry, dust-free, with no humidity and salt stains.
- New natural lime plasters: the substrate should "mature" for a period of minimum 20 days; then apply CORALLO directly on the wall, which has been previously thoroughly wet with water, specially in case of windy and extremely hot weather.
- New or recent lime and cement mortars, premixed renderings, gypsum and plaster boards: apply one priming coat of MARMUR Fine (lime plaster coat), mixed 1:1 with NOVAPRIMER and thinned with 50-100% of clean water, depending on substrate absorption. CORALLO may be applied after around 4/6 hours.
- Pre-existing chalking lime plasters: remove damaged and peeling areas with an adequate tool or high-pressure washing; apply one priming coat consisting of MARMUR Fine mixed 1:1 with NOVAPRIMER and thinned with 50-100% of clean water, depending on substrate absorption. Wait at least 4-6 hours prior to the application of CORALLO.
- Old synthetic paints and plasters: remove the synthetic finishing coat with a paint remover containing no paraffin. Wash the substrate by means of a high-pressure washing and prepare it according to its nature and following the instructions above.
Application Procedure and Recommendation
CORALLO is ready for use and therefore does not require any water dilution. For applications over exterior facades make sure you have an adequate number of decorators applying the product, in order to avoid any unaesthetic joint. Work in the shade and avoid direct sun light. Apply the first coat with an inox trowel trying to level the wall and not to break too much the small granules inside the product. When this first coat is completely dry, i.e. after few hours, do apply the second one, always using a stainless steel trowel and making sure the thickness of the material you're putting on the wall is thick enough to avoid any scratches. When the product starts to "set" polish the wall with the inox trowel used above. If a further protection is needed apply one coat of CERA - DECOWAX, to increase washability of the product. The wax treatment is recommended in interiors only. In case of exterior protection, one coat of ACQUADIVETRO, siloxane transparent consolidation, is normally recommended.
Do not apply with rainy weather or with air or substrate temperature below 5° C.
Protect the facades from rain, at least along the first 48 hours, i.e. until lime has finished to set and started to get hard.

Between 0,600gr and 0,800gr per mq., depending on substrate conditions and the final effect required.
